Kelsey is 14 years old and is a freshman in high school. She has been dancing for most of her life, although she did not start any formal training until the age of 8 with hip hop lessons at Tulsa's Lacy Park, located in under-served North Tulsa.  She later added Break Dance, Lyrical, and a little Jazz.  In September 2010, she added Rhythmic Gymnastics. During the 2011 dance season Kelsey competed in her second year of solos and her 4th year with a hip hop team.

Kelsey is a very determined and driven young lady, who picks up choreography quickly. She gives 110% at every practice, which shows in her performances. Over the five years Kelsey has been taking lessons, you can count on one hand the number of practices she has missed.

Judges have said that Kelsey "dances from her heart and with a lot of passion."  This comes from her conviction and passion to change people’s lives through her dance performances. This is something that is difficult to teach a student, but comes naturally to Kelsey.

Her goal for the future is to study Psychology and open a studio of her own dedicated to helping children and young adults find their purpose in life and develop the courage to fulfill that purpose.

The fees for training, competitive hip hop team, private dance lessons, and competition fees, the Thompson budget is spread pretty thin.  Her mom, Kathy Thompson, works full-time and her dad, Tee Thompson, is self-employed.  Because Kelsey shows so much promise as a dancer, leader and role model her parents feel she needs these opportunities to learn and grow as a dancer as well as a person.  It is for this reason they are reaching out to the community for assistance, financial donations or in-kind gifts.
